Banner Day In The Grouse Woods
Five Ruffs in four hunts with four dogs.
Our hunting has been going great so far! I hope you all join us on Facebook and Instagram to follow our adventures daily! Here’s Duncan with a nice bag on his hunt yesterday. A very special dog.
We’ve started to get the Llews back out on birds this week and will continue to do so until we leave for our five week hunt trip to the UP in September. The kids are looking good after their first day back to work in many months! Click on photo to enlarge and use slideshow feature.

The Storms Litter (Pixel by Duncan) born on 1/27/16. In April, both Widget and Omiimii had puppies. The Waters Litter (Omiimii by Duncan) were born on 4/7/16. The Earth Day Litter (Widget by Duncan) were born on 4/22/16.
Omiimii’s pups are leaving now thru next week then the following week Widget’s pups start to leave and we bring little Cedar out to Wisconsin to his new home when we go out to the UP in July.
These litters were all really nice and we plan on winter time breedings. Always accepting reservations.

The two tri-colors are both males from The Earth Day Litter born 4/22/16 ready to go 6/17/16. Top left is Cedar and bottom right is Spruce. The two orange beltons are both females from The Waters Litter born 4/7/16 and ready to go 6/2/16. Top right is Puddle and bottom left is Brook. All specifics on the AVAILABLE PUPPIES page. Also visit us on Facebook at Paint River Llewellins! Daily photos and videos there!

These are two fabulous grouse dogs. I cannot praise them enough! Duncan has sired eight incredible litters with tremendously positive feedback on multiple females and some repeat breedings. Both these dogs are true naturals and only needed bird exposure. Early developers… incredible bird dogs by six months old and gave WOW performances their first grouse season in the UP performing like veterans with their problem-solving ability! Omiimii has had two seasons under her belt and Duncan three seasons. Both parents have excellent PennHip ratings and you couldn’t ask for more in a hunting-family dog! Amazingly impressive litter. They were born 4/7/16 and will be ready to go next week 6/2/16. I have two gorgeous female orange beltons available still. Puddle and Brook shown below. Great opportunity!

We have at least two females available from our Waters Litter born 4/7/16 still available and we have three males from our Earth Day Litter born 4/22/16 still available! Great pups! Excellent bird dog potential! Hunting-families homes please!

Hi Everyone!!
Well Pixel, Widget and Omiimii all came into heat during the month of April! Hello Everyone,
Sorry I haven’t been giving too much updating lately… been very busy around here with full house renovations and many dogs to train! So this week both Pixel and Omiimii are in heat. This is Omiimii’s first heat at 16 months old. Omi will not be bred most likely until a year from this winter but we will see. Pixel has a couple reservations on her next litter, which providing her next heat is on time should be conceived sometime in October. Then there’s Widget… the long awaited Widget litter! Widget was not bred this winter due to skipping a heat. We are hoping she will be coming into heat between now and the summer with the plans of a winter litter for she as well. Widget also has a couple reservations.

Pups available. Please call 845-399-3439 or email paintriverllewellins@gmail.com. Serious inquiries only please. Outstanding natural ability. Family hunting homes only for the remaining pups. Hello Everyone,
The pups are doing wonderful! The past two days we have had them starting to open their eyes so it’s a whole new world for them. The beltons are starting to acquire more spots now so in the weeks ahead we will have an idea of what colors they will be.
In other news at this time we now have rounded out homes for all the males and two of the females. At this time Paint River has reserved the third pick female but for all you Paint River Llewellin fans that are interested in a female please do not hesitate to inquire as we will not make a decision as to keep this girl probably for another month.
Picking of pups will begin at 5-6 weeks with this litter. Based on order of reservations made. They are all going to be excellent dogs!! This is a repeat breeding with all fantastic pups from the first round and Duncan’s other litter is outstanding as well. While most people pick dogs based on colors and at times get disappointed they don’t get the one they want— remember you have chosen the right breed for your family and a litter that will have very consistent pups!!
Looking forward to meeting you and sharing information, photos and videos in the weeks ahead. It gets real fun once they are all in the kitchen for their morning and evening romps!!
Hello Everyone!
So the Gemstones are growing very nicely!! Yesterday I posted headshots of the pups. In another couple weeks hopefully we will be clearly able to see what colors they all will be as their ticking comes in.
Peridot (girl) is clearly a tric-color that will likely be fairly dark.
Opal (girl) appears to be a black and white that will develop ticking.
Diamond (girl) she’s a wild card as I have no idea what color this little belton will be yet.
Emerald (boy) is a black and white that looks like he will have a lot of ticking.
Zircon (boy) is a tri-color with a patch on the eye and his ticking is starting to come in.
The three boy beltons are also wild cards! I have no idea what colors they will be yet.
I find this an interesting part of raising this breed is you often never know how dark they will get and what coloration sometimes for a couple months to even nearly a year of age!!
I hope you all are following on Instagram! Stay tuned for updates! A few more weeks and we will have romp a room videos rolling.
