It’s been a male heavy puppy year and in our last litter born for 2025 that continued. We have these two pups available at this time. If interested check out bios on parents. Fill out pup app from website and email it back. Look forward to speaking with you.
UPDATE: Maka has a new hunting family. Thank you to all who inquired.
“Maka” is 18 months old. I bought & raised him last year well into his first hunting season. He’s seen lots of birds— pigeons, preserve chukars, ruffed grouse and woodcock.
He has all his fundamental commands in place with sit, stay, base (recall & heel), whoa, and collar conditioned for recall. He’s a close to medium range dog that is very biddable. He is a great natural retriever that brings to hand.
He’s a dark black & white, intact 60 pound boy. Very lovely in the field and still working on finding his off switch in the house but is crate trained and travels well.
His owner is located in Traverse City area of Michigan. Due to a big change in the owner’s health status he finds it best to place this young dog in a more suitable home that will be able to hunt with him for many more years.

Hey folks!
This week I received updates from two participants in the clinics that they cannot attend. So I now have one dog team slot open the first and last weekend of August. For anyone able to attend it will be the most transformative and informative two days you can spend to propel your grouse hunting strategy and grouse dog handling. Please shoot me an email if you or anyone you know is interested. Thank you.

Zuzu is a 30# blue belton that is a very connected hunter. She’s a close working prairie dog that resides in Nebraska hunting all of the states upland species.
Shes a stealthy tracking dog that has a tenacious attitude for after the shot work. Retrieves crippled pheasants from hundreds of yards and has a lovely off switch in the home with the family.
Zuzu’s dam, Waawaate is a stellar grouse dog down from our incredible Lynnhill linebreeding pairing of Duncan by Widget going back to Django. Zuzu’s sire is Zhingos, full brother to our all time queen bee producer, Missy.
Zhingos is the sire of Ina’amii who is one of PRL’s greatest of all time when bred to Omiimii. Zhingos is a linebred dog back to Tonic. Our classic long time grouse dog blood cross that’s been consistent for decades.
This is the single time Zuzu will be bred. She whelped her litter here at her birthplace in the UP of Michigan. Puppies ready to go home the late August to early Sept.
Namé x Riffle pups—- I am holding (2) males & (2) females for myself at this time. My plan is to keep (1) & (1). You can’t find a better bred close working, tracking style, high quality after the shot work pedigree than this pairing right here.
Smaller sized, great off switch, hallmarks stuffed teddy bear personalities that with the flip of a switch has excellent grouse hunting prowess. These puppies are third generation PRL dam’s side and fourth generation PRL sire’s side. I’ve hunted over seven generations of this family in total and to any extent a pedigree can give predictability in type this should be that.
You can check out the parents on dams & sires pages
Let me know if you are interested shoot me an email. I then can keep interested folks in mind as I make decisions over the next 6+ weeks.
I’ve been so swamped with pups the last couple months I have not had the time to promote Bodhi.
He is still available as of today to a wonderful family that will hunt with him. He’s a clone to his parents Ina’amii & Hatchet I’m so many ways.
Heartbroken I have to sell him. He’s only leaving here because he’s sterile. I assure you he will be as good or better than any grouse dog you’ve owned.
He’s a stealthy tracker in the grouse woods, hunts connected and is a great family dog. For more details please email me @ paintriversetters@gmail.com
