Young Started pup available

Hello PRS followers!

I’ve decided to sell a started pup I have here.

Meet Copper! She’s will be 5 months old on September 19th. She has her basic commands in place, crate trained, well socialized, just about fully collar conditioned for both recall & whoa, has seen 140+ pigeons, 50+ .22 caliber blank fires, retrieved bumpers with grouse wings, frozen pigeons and fresh kill pigeons. Should be hunt ready within a week or two.

She is out of one of my very best ever in Ina’amii when bred to Duca. Both parents are on the sires and dams pages. Check them out if not familiar! Serious inquiries only please. Submit pup app from purchase forms page via email to paintriverllewellins@gmail.com

I can provide ample videos of her recent bird work and obedience. Here’s a couple photos below—

2023 Grouse dog clinics

The dates for the 2023 Grouse Dog Clinics are:
August 18-20th and September 1-3rd (Labor Day weekend). Rain dates for both clinics will be the following Fri-Sun of original scheduled dates. Come join the greatest grouse hunting and handling experience could have with your dog! At this time there is one dog team slot and one observer slot remaining for the August clinic. There is also three dog team slots and one observer slot available for the September clinic.
Over the years these clinics have been incredibly fun and educational for dozens and dozens of people. We love it being a small and intimate with everyone hands-on all the time kind of experience.
Everyone walks away with a lot more tools in your toolbox for hunting ruffed grouse and wild birds in general. We accept all pointing breeds of all ages. If you are looking for a way to become a more effective grouse hunter with your pointing dog then this is the intensive workshop for you and your hunting companion.
These events take place in the western UP of Michigan. All pointing breeds welcome from as young as six months of age to senior dogs.
Each day we allocate time for both field work classroom work encompassing: reading and handling your dog on the hunt, hunt strategy, scent theory & behavior, use of GPS, learning habitat, bird behavior, med kit supplies and use and having non-stop Q&A throughout the event.
Come and make your next hunting season the best season yet whether it’s your first with your pup or your fifth! There’s always a tremendous knowledge to walk away with from these grouse dog clinics. Even for those that mainly hunt other species across the USA, it’s an event that will have you expanding the depth of your toolbox as an upland hunter.
If you are interested in attending a grouse dog clinic this summer now is the time to reach out as we have limited space. I can forward you the informational flyer via email. Hope to see you there!

2022 PRL Grouse Dog Clinics

Late summer every year prior to the hunting season PRL hosts a couple grouse dog clinics. These workshops teach dog owners how to be the best dog handler and hunter with their grouse dog in the Northwoods.

We cover all the necessary skills for both dog and human: navigation, reading your dog, scent theory and behavior, grouse habitat and behavior, hunt strategy, essential obedience and troubleshooting all specific problems that you and your dog have as a hunting team.

Space is limited as we like to keep participation small enough so all people attending are observing all the other dog teams at the clinic.

It’s an intense three day event that will put you and your dog in the best position possible to succeed this fall! Making every hunt a successful hunt with or without any birds in the back!

Email us today for more information. All breeds and all ages from five months old and up are welcome to attend.
